I started out podcasting with the USB Blue Snowball microphone, something I would never recommend knowing what I know now.  I can still remember sitting in my classroom and podcasting behind the big white orb in front of me.  Some of you know what I am talking about.  I made the decision through a series of events to start podcasting without recording directly into my computer.  When I did this, my Snowball became obsolete.  In most cases you can't plug a USB microphone into a regular mixing board.
